Projects

16 strings and one body

An exciting collaboration between dancer and choreographer Renana Raz and the Toscanini String Quartet. Another instrument joins the classic string quartet: the body. Raz invites the music to pass through the body, offering a personal, musical, dramatic and physical interpretation of the lines that make up the score.

Projects

Tradition vs. innovation in performance

An event that brings together two forms of art, exploring the similarities between the world of conservation architecture and classical music: tradition versus innovation in performance.

Architect Amnon Bar-Or, a leader of architectural conservation in Israel, presents his philosophy and the values he seeks while designing a project.

The Toscanini String Quartet showcases the world of classical music and the working processes of the ensemble.

In an intriguing conversation, the artists discuss their research and rehearsal routines and freedom for interpretation.

Our story

Our story

The Quartet was founded 12 years ago by the members of the Israel Philharmonic orchestra (IPO). The string quartet was established in order to continue the great tradition of string quartets that had been an integral part of the IPO's artistic activity and of the music scene in Israel. The quartet has performed around the world including the Spoleto Festival, Italy, Verbier Festival, Switzerland and Schloss Elmau, Germany.

The quartet members have created and developed a center for chamber music studies in the Buchmann-Mehta school of music in Tel-Aviv.

In 2017 the quartet played in a concert for the inauguration of the “friends of the IPO fund, Vienna”. The Quartet's recent new performance with the prominent choreographer and dancer Renana Raz showcased in a series of performances in Hong Kong.
